Kerry Nicholls has taught and performed extensively for numerous dance companies and institutions worldwide and her experience spans a diverse dance practice spectrum. She has been a member of faculty at the London Contemporary Dance School, the Laban Centre and many others, where she has led both technical, performance and choreographical studies. Regularly teaching for DV8, Charleroi and Wayne McGregor | Random Dance companies to name but a few, Nicholls is widely regarded as one of Britainâs leading contemporary technique teachers.
k|n|d|c (kerry nicholls dance company) was founded in 1999 as a vehicle to promote Nichollsâ own choreographic research. Since its inception, she has created numerous works for the company as well as receiving independent commissions from institutions and companies within Europe â including â Pelleas and Melisandeâ, a collaboration with Opera North and the Bonnington Gallery in 2001.
Kerry Nicholls was appointed Co-Director of Creative Learning for Wayne McGregor | Random Dance in 2007 focusing on years 16+ and professional development, and was their lead facilitator for D.A.N.C.E. (Dance Apprentice Network aCross Europe) before the scheme came to an end mid-2009. Within her role, Nicholls has fulfilled choreographic commissions for the Royal Ballet School, London Studio Centre, English National Ballet School, Rambert School, the Laban Centre, Escuela Nacional de Danza in Cuba, and she recently created an original work as part of the ResCen project housed at the Beijing Dance Academy in China. In addition, Nicholls is an external assessor for the Royal Ballet School and the Artistic Advisor for the English National Ballet School.
