Born on the Coast d' Azure, Michel Ocelot grew up in Guinea then in Anjou before establishing himself in Paris. After studies in art, he devoted himself to film animation.
In 1976, Michel Ocelot created the animated series The Adventures of Gédéon, after Benjamin Rabier, then going on to make the Three Inventors (1979) â which won a BAFTA award.
In 1986, Ocelot made the televised series The Insensitive Princess. In 1998, his internationally-acclaimed Kirikou And The Sorceress came to the big screen. He was asked to adapt these old magical tales into a French piece of musical theatre in 2007. Wayne McGregor directed the production - his first musical - with lighting by Lucy Carter and music by Youssou NâDour.
