HotBox Studios is a Visual Arts, Media Production and Technology Company. They began in 1999 as a group of students producing a film for the Hampshire Constabulary.
Mark Hatchard was selected to direct the film by Farnborough College of Technology (FCOT) where he was studying for his Higher National Diploma in Multimedia Broadcast graphics & Animation. Guy Wigmore, Richard (Tricky) Lee, and Robert Smith worked with Mark in producing the film.
International award winning collaboration has led to productions produced by HotBox Studios opening and premiering in London (Sadlers Wells, Lilian Baylis, Laban), New York (Lehmann Maupin), Milan (Teatro alla Scala), showing on the BBC, and touring to almost every corner of the globe.
They have worked with Wayne McGregor | Random Dance in Amu where their key role has been a close collaboration with the Visual Artist Shirazeh Houshiary. Together they have developed techniques which have allowed them to visualise Wayne McGregor's concepts and Sir John Tavener's music, combined with Shirazeh's paintings, as animation in Amu.
