Jon Hopkins is a London-based composer and producer. He has released two critically-acclaimed electronica records on Just Music, the first 2001's Opalescent ("stunning" The Evening Standard), an album of instrumental songs filled with depth and sadness, and the second 2004's Contact Note ("a sublime achievement" The Music Review), a darker, more rhythmic work, with a strong film score influence.
Jon's ability to create soundworlds and melodies both beautiful and disturbing has led to long-term collaborations with Brian Eno, Imogen Heap, David Holmes and Coldplay, and productions and remixes for acts including King Creosote, Frou Frou and James Yorkston.
His newer work sees him entering more experimental territory, employing simple, classical melodies on treated acoustic instruments set against jarring, hard-edged electronics, by turns euphoric and unsettling. He is currently working on his third album, for release in 2008.
For Wayne McGregor | Random Dance, Jon Hopkins has provided the original music for Entity.
