Uzma Hameed

Uzma Hameed studied Modern and Medieval Languages at Cambridge University and subsequently trained in classical Indian music and dance. In 1997 she founded The Big Picture Theatre Company, where productions such as A Dark River, Taj and Prophetess gained a reputation for combining new writing with choreography and film. From 2003 to 2005 Uzma was associate director at Derby Playhouse where she brought her visual style to productions of Shirley Valentine, Frankenstein and Mary Stuart. Since 2006 Uzma has been a full-time mum to Raif, and is currently co-writing a novel with her sister, Ambreen.
