Delia Barker
Delia Barker is currently an independent consultant specialising in business development within the creative sector. Her portfolio includes the Co-Directorship of English National Ballet School, Business Development Associate for Drake Music and for StopGAP Dance Company. Most recently, as Senior Officer in Dance at Arts Council England, Delia managed a portfolio of diverse cultural organisations receiving £9.1 million of public investment, as well as implementing strategies in partnership with local and national agencies and managing high level relationships. She has extensive experience of working in an international cultural context and, in this vein, has travelled to China, India, USA and several other European countries.
In December 2009, Delia completed a Powerbrokers International Leadership Placement as Business Development Associate at the Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination in Barbados, working to develop a national cultural strategy. This also involved successfully forging links with the Ministry of Community Development and Culture and Delia continues to have a strong relationship with both partner organisations in an advisory capacity.
Delia was named as one of the Cultural Leadership Programme’s 50 Women to Watch in Culture in March 2010 as part of the inaugural W2W campaign designed to celebrate women who are making a huge contribution the cultural life of the UK, and have the potential to rise to the very top. The finalists were chosen by a prestigious panel that included Wayne McGregor, Jenny Murray, Kwame Kwei-Armah and Dame Liz Forgan.
