Today Iâm going to familiarise myself again with the language that we generated in an early creation period for Dyad 1909 in January of this year. Iâve made several pieces since then and this split rehearsal process is very unusual for me. I need to see what, of the language I have made, still has a visceral impact or connection with me? Which material still needs work? How much is eloquent and speaks to me and how much do I just get rid of.
I have 8 dancers for Dyad 1909; they all created and performed in Entity with me. One of the early tasks we did together, to generate language, has produced a lot of floor movement. Iâm going to get knee pads in for the dancers because I have had an idea of doing a very aggressive structure on the floor with everybody - quite traumatised action, floor-bound, low level light - it might have a very strong effect?
